Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild (ISTG) references immigration information with an emphasis on passenger lists, ships, and emigrant databases. It is a great and growing online collective effort of over ½-million names, extracted from more than 5,000 ships. Over 500 Guild volunteers are dedicated to the task of making the search for our ancestors’ immigration easier, with the creation of digitized ships’ passenger lists.
Posting a Productive Genealogy Query
Have you ever posted a genealogical query on a well-known mailing list or message board, only to watch it never receive a reply? Social Security Sleuthing—How to Search the Social Security Death Index (SSDI)
With over 78.2 million records, as of September 2006, the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) is massive…and a great place to collect dead relatives. The Social Security Administration Death Master File (DMF)contains information on millions of deceased individuals with United States social security numbers, whose deaths were reported to the Social Security Administration (SSA). It is searchable online for free at several websites, including Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org, RootsWeb.com, and FamilyTreeLegends.com.
Hamilton Branch – Ontario Genealogical Society Seminar
Region IV of the Ontario Canada Genealogical Society presents a seminar featuring Elizabeth Kelly Kerstens, CG, CGL.
